Poems to Our Planet | Author Visit with Joyce Sidman

April 21, 2022 @ 9:30 am 10:15 am PDT

What would you ask the Earth if you could?

During this virtual author visit, Joyce Sidman will read from her new book, HELLO, EARTH!, share about her writing process, and motivate students to wonder and explore the world around them!

About the Book
We walk on Earth’s surface every day, but how often do we wonder about the incredible planet around us? From the molten cracks below to the shimmering moon above, Hello, Earth!  explores the complex wonders of our natural world. This playful poetic journey across our puzzle-piece continents does not hesitate to ask questions—even of the Earth itself!

About the Author
Joyce Sidman is the author of many award-winning children’s poetry books, including the Newbery Honor-winning Dark Emperor and Other Poems of the Night, and two Caldecott Honor books. Her recent book The Girl Who Drew Butterflies: How Maria Merian’s Art Changed Science won the 2019 Robert F. Sibert Medal. Joyce has also received the NCTE Award for Excellence in Children’s Poetry for her body of work.
