First Nations at Fort Langley – Virtual Field Trip

June 8, 2021 @ 10:30 am - 11:30 am PDT

History comes alive with this virtual visit to the Fort Langley National Historic Site!

Meet and interact with a costumed interpreter to explore the relationship between the local First Nations, the Hudson’s Bay Company employees of Fort Langley, and the environment during the fur trade. Learn about the benefits, challenges, and impacts of trading between the local First Nations communities and Fort Langley.

  • Interactions between First Peoples and Europeans lead to conflict and cooperation, which continues to shape Canada’s identity;
  • differentiate between short- and long-term causes, and intended and unintended consequences, of events, decisions, or developments; and,
  • the pursuit of valuable natural resources has played a key role in changing the land, people, and communities of Canada.
